Keep Christ in Christmas Essay Contest

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 1319.  Open to youth in Grades 8-12.

OVERVIEW: The Knights of Columbus sponsors the Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest to encourage today’s youth to be more connected to their community and their faith. The essay should be approximately 500-750 words on the subject/theme outlined below. Entrants will be judged on grammar, style, and how clearly they present the theme. Prizes of $50 gift cards will be awarded to the top 3 winners selected by our judges.
 

2023 THEME: KEEPING CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS IN TODAY’S DIGITAL AGE

Remember, Christmas starts with “Christ”.  Pope St. Paul VI wrote “The task of evangelizing all people constitutes the essential mission of the Church.”  In Biblical times, the only way to “carry” good news was to bring it physically, walking from one place to another. Technological advances, however, have opened numerous additional communication channels, all of which we can use to amplify the rate at which we spread the Word. In an essay of 500-750 words, How can the Church evangelize in the digital age?
